Writing

In writing this term we have been learning about reports.

We have been doing reports about Bees, Torbay school, and when the power went out we had to use books to write report and I did lady bugs. There was also lots more.
Reports are about facts they are not about opinions. The thing I have found the most difficult about reports is that you can't share any opinions e.g. Torbay School is a safe and fantastic learning environment for all kids. That is my opinion but the person next to me might think that Torbay is exciting but unsafe, so my opinion is not necessarily everyone ales opinion. What I also found difficult was that we had to include 4-5 paragraphs in each report witch is a lot of information for just 1 story.
Over all report writing has been fun and interesting, but it is not my favourite type of writing. I like narratives the best.

Maths

In maths I want to learn my 12x, because I now know my 1x,2x,3x,4x,5x,6x,7x,8x,9x,10 and 11x

Here is some practise,
12x1 12*
12x2 24*
12x3 36*
12x4 48*
12x5 60*
12x6 72*
12x7 84*
12x8 96*
12x9 10 8*
12x10 12 0*
12x11 13 2*
12x12 14 4*
The dash means it's right. They are all right I checked.
I see a pattern in the second digit number as it goes 2, 4, 6, 8, 0, 2, 4, 6, and then in the third digit number it carries on 8, 0, 2, 4, its like the 2x's tables. It also has a pattern on the first digit number going 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9 and in the triple digit numbers the first 2 continue 10, 11, 12, 13, 14.
were I have highlighted blue I am confused because it goes 1, 2, 3, 4, and it just skips 5 and goes on like 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14.

Independent tasks.

Independent tasks.

Over the last couple of weeks room 2 have been given an independent work grid to work with. This includes daily must do task and weekly must do tasks.
The idea of independent work grids are that we don't have to do spelling, maths, writing, reading and so on, in that particular order, we can do reading, maths, writing and than spelling. I think it is a good idea and fun because if you don't fell like doing reading in the first block you can do it in the last block!

Hundertwasser Art

This week we have been learning about Hundertwasser Art.
Hundertwasser was a famous architect and artist, he designed many buildings and many pictures within his long life of 72 years, sadly he died in 2000 of a cruise ship in New Zealand.
He was a very unique artist and did not believe in straight lines, because he thought they looked unnatural in his work. He included environmental messages in lots of his art work, such as...
You are a creature of nature behave.
Don't cut down the forest.
Save the forest.
And many others.
We have started to create are own Hundertwasser work including environmental slogans.
Not being able to use straight lines is tricky, but I like Hundertwasser's art because it is different and special.
